Eastman Traditional Series All Solid Flat Top Guitars
The Eastman Traditional Series is inspired by the great flat tops of the Golden Era. While Modern production gradually drifts further from the discipline that created this this legacy, Eastman embrace it.
The result is a brilliant tribute to the iconic guitars of the 30's and 40's
Mahogany backed models feature classic microdot fret markers and Rosewood backed models are ornamented with elegant snowflake inlays. All models include vintage inspired all solid wood construction, bone nut and saddle and period-correct styled tuners.
Delux hardshell case included.
Red Spruce also known as Adirondack or Appalachian spruce, was plentiful in the USA before the war and the use of this wood on many of the great pre-war guitars creates a sound that many seek today. . Due to over harvesting its use was all but discontinued, only then being generally available on the most expensive hand built guitars. Recently reintroduced thanks to 50 years of regeneration this legendary traditional tonewood is now available on premium models in the Eastman Traditional Series. The small size of most logs and the amount of wood suitable for guitar soundboards of even color and regularity of grain conspire to keep Adirondack Spruce a premium, highly sought after wood for tone and projection.
Adirondack spruce is relatively heavy, has a high velocity of sound, and has the highest stiffness across and along the grain of all the soundboard woods. Like Sitka, it has strong fundamentals, but it also exhibits more complex overtones. Tops made out of Adirondack spruce have the highest volume ceiling of any wood species, yet they also have a rich fullness of tone that retains clarity over all dynamic levels. We are lucky that Eastman invested in private reserves of Adirondak wood which 50 years ago was over farmed but now is wholly sustainable but thanks to their forethought it means Eastman guitars are ahead of the rest when it comes to sheer sound.
