Now you can play bagpipe music on the harmonica!Hohner has teamed up with virtuoso Scottish harmonica player Donald Black, from Benderloch in Argyle, who has been playing Scottish music on harmonica for many years. Together they have developed an instrument with special tuning that makes it particularly suitable for Scottish and Highland Bagpipe music and other modal styles. The Hohner Highlander Harmonica is based on the traditional Hohner Echo 5580 tremolo harmonica and features two sides of holes tuned to different keys. A Mixolydian side makes the traditional bagpipe scale available to the harmonica player, whilst the other side is left with a standard tone sequence, allowing Scottish pipe tunes to be played on this Hohner harmonica that were previously impossible. The wood body is coated with a special dark green lacquer, making it very sturdy and incorporating Celtic style elements designed to not only play very well but look very stylish in a session or on stage. The Hohner Highlander’s classic, robust cardboard case has a highly attractive decorative motif. The Highlander harmonica, with its stainless steel cover plates, is perfect for giving voice to your favourite bagpipe tunes!
