The Octave Mandola or Octave Mandolin as it is sometimes know has stirred controversy for years. These days commonly called Mandola or Octave Mandola, this instrument is an Octave Mandolin tuned GDAE one octave below the mandolin. Really, the Mandola (sometimes referred to as Tenor Mandola for clarity) is to the Mandolin what the Viola is to the Violin, i.e. one string lower at CGDA. But there you go; often used to great effect in English and Irish Traditional Music no doubt the debate about the octave mandolin or Mandola will rage for some years more yet.
Formerly known as Trinity College they are from the same factory as the Ozark group of instruments, however our Tonewood is made from a selected close grain solid spruce top and solid Maple back and sides. Like Ozark mandola’s formerly made in Korea but now made in China we have a functional, playable great sounding Octave Mandolin at a fraction of the price they used to be without sacrificing quality.
