The Tonewood DRG2CE is a great value for money resonator electro acoustic guitar. Resonator guitars were developed in the depression of the 1930's and soon found favour with street musicians and blues players who were looking for affordable instruments capable of producing decent levels of volume.
The unique tone of a single cone resonator has become one of the iconic sounds of the blues - loud, brash and brilliant at the top with quite a pronounced midrange. All-metal resonators of the type seen on THAT dire straights album cover can be rather hard sounding - The Tonewood DRG2CE has a metal cone in a wooden body for a warmer, fuller and more versatile blues tone.
While many resonator guitars are designed for slide playing with a square neck, his model has a conventional round neck for normal guitar playing position - although the set up does still allow you to play slide style if you wish.
The guitar has some nice refinements - it features high quality enclosed tuning machines and an integrated pick up with built in volume and tone controls.
If you've never had a resonator guitar, find out what you've been missing. A great value way to achieve an authentic blues tone.
