The Tonewood 'BZ-1 Octave Mandola, sometimes called the Octave Mandolin, is exceptional at this price point as it is ALL SOLID TIMBER in construction, something that traditionally only luthier produced instruments could boast. Built and hand finished in Europe where solid timbers are plentiful the back and sides are made from solid maple, whilst the top of the Octave Mandolin is solid spruce.

The soundboard has intricate fretwork around the sound-hole providing great sound projection, more than other instruments at this price point. A maple neck and maple slotted headstock with back facing open geared tuners makes for easier tuning whilst the maple and ebony tipped bridge add more density for even greater sound projection whilst the metal tailpiece has an effective chrome cover plate for neatness. You get excellent tone and volume at a fraction of the cost of what you normally pay for an all solid instrument. The finish of this Octave Mandola is a modern gloss durable lacquer which really brings out the grain in the attractive solid spruce top.
