Alaskapiks are unique in that they wrap around the finger and fit under the nail thus extending the fingernail. Alaska piks are available in brass or plastic (which can be trimmed with scissors or nail clippers) and in a variety of sizes. Many players find that Alaska piks offer a level of playing control that they haven't found with traditional style fingerpicks.
An enterprising employee of The Music Room, first discovered and urged us to import The 'aLasKa Pik' from the USA over a 12 years ago. Since then, we have introduced the unique 'Over the finger, Under the nail' pick to literally thousands of our customers. If you want to give them a go, we have simplified the sizing information below.
Guide to sizing: The PLASTIC aLasKa Piks come in four sizes, small, medium, large and extra large
- As a rule of thumb, no pun intended, A person with average size hands should choose Large for your fingers and Extra Large for your thumb
- With larger hands a player should choose Extra Large for your fingers and Extra Large for the thumb
- If you have small hands, choose Medium for your fingers and Large for your thumb
Musicroom don't stock the small size Alaska pik (which is available to order only) as it's too tiny for adult fingers! The medium size is small really. Most people need large and/or extra large.
