I had wondered about getting a Tenor guitar for quite some time, having seen the likes of Eliza Carthy, Karine Polwart & of course Seth Lakeman play them with such wonderful results, but only ever seemed to see expensive second hand Martins for sale. These were all a little too rich for my pocket and so I put the idea on the back burner. Then I saw this Tonewood MFT1 at such a reasonable price and, having found their Mandolins, mandolas and Bazouki's to be competent instruments, I took a deep breath and took the plunge.
The MFT1 however is not just competent, the one I took delivery of the very next day was simply sensational. Perfect intonation, a sweet quality guitar tone and a whole new world of experimentation (amazing what a return to single courses can unlock). If you want to expand your sonic palette, and own a really good musical instrument I would say give this a go, if you play guitar and want to make a move in the direction of the mandolin family start here..... this is a little stunner at any price and for this amount...... buy, buy, buy!
